How Can You Help at FCAC?
Our teachers are always looking for helpers to assist in the classroom on a regular basis at different times. Volunteers typically assist with reading and maths groups, art and craft activities, musicals, school events, etc. Please speak with your child’s teacher if you are interested in being a classroom helper.
- All Volunteers must adhere to strict confidentiality principles in regards to students other than their own children.
- Volunteers working outside their child’s class or attending Outdoor Education activities or camps are required to have a Blue Card.
The College Canteen is always looking for volunteers on a part time or regular basis. Notices are frequently posted in the College Newsletter or you can contact the Convenor, Mrs Wendy Christie, directly by emailing her at [email protected]
Hobbies / Interests / Expertise
Many parents have an area of interest or hobby which they are passionate about. The College runs many extra–curricular activities throughout the course of the year and if your area of interest or expertise coincides with these, we would love to hear from you.
In the past we have had parents and grandparents help students grow vegetable gardens, assist with the Musical and other performances, school camps, culminating activities (such as ‘Cultural Day’), School Banking, Book Club, fundraising events (such as Mother’s Day Stall), after school clubs, Library and many other activities.
We often seek volunteers to assist teachers and providers during camps. It’s not possible to take all volunteers and we usually base our decision on the skills needed (eg. bus license, 4WD vehicle) or the need to ensure a gender balance among the adults on camp. Volunteers are there to assist the teacher with setting and packing up, cooking meals, running activities etc. The teacher takes prime responsibility for managing the students. Part of going on camp is to develop resilience while being away from parents and siblings and for that reason we try not to utilise the same parents in consecutive years.
- All volunteers attending Outdoor Education are required to have a Blue Card.
The Fraser Flames Sporting Club, which is run by FCAC, is always looking for parents to assist with coaching and managing teams. For more information contact Fraser Flames Coordinator Mr Adrian Elmes on 4124 5411.
Volunteers are requested to become familiar with the Workplace Health and Safety Regulation brochure, and provide their Blue Card. The original needs to be sighted and copied by our Blue Card Co-ordinator.
