Well done Year 12 – 2007! -
added Friday, 21 December 2007 The time for waiting is over and the OP results have been released. Congratulations to everyone for the effort they put in, particularly to Josephine Langbien and Liuzia Milijasevic who scored OP 1. In fact, 11 of our students scored an OP score of between one and five, while 46% of the year scored OP 1 to 10. College Principal, Mr Tony Wood commended students for a wonderfully sustained effort over their senior schooling years and hoped that for many their OP allowed them to go on to achieve their chosen career paths and provide them with options for their future. “I know that a number of students will take up the offer from their chosen tertiary institution, while others will choose to defer, travel or take up jobs that they have been offered. “On behalf of the College community I wish them every success and thank them for their many achievements and involvements throughout their years of schooling. “Their efforts and successes in leadership, academic, outdoor educational, sporting, service and cultural programs have made us very proud,” Mr Wood added. FCAC reaps the benefit from water storage facility -
added Friday, 2 November 2007 Federal Member for Hinkler, Hon. Paul Neville M.P. took time out from campaigning across the electorate recently and joined the Principal, College Council and P&F members, staff and students to ‘turn-on’ the College’s new irrigation and water system, part of a new water storage system for the College. The project is designed to harvest store storm water and distribute the water around the College oval and grounds. A pump and associated piping was installed to move water from the dam to a holding tank and oval. Guttering was also fitted to the Casuarina Multi-purpose Centre allowing storm water to be directed to the holding tank. As a result of the Australian Government Community Water Grant, the College’s reliance on Town Water decreases which will have positive affect on the city’s water supply. The ability to irrigate the ovals will assist the upkeep and maintenance of a facility that is used by not only the College community but also the whole community (other sporting clubs etc). Principal of Fraser Coast Anglican College, Tony Wood said there were three important elements to today’s launch. “This project has been capably managed by a dedicated band of supporters. Mr Keith Jacobs from the school’s P&F, The College’s Works Manager Russell Green and his team, and College Business Manager Alan Williams who have all been the driving force behind the project for some years,” Mr Wood said. “The project has allowed the College to actively participate in the conservation of one of our most precious commodities, and as citizens of the Fraser Coast we can truly make “every drop count”. “And for the students at the College today and those who will join us in future years we can show directly the importance of excellent environmental management and how, with an idea, the bringing together of like minded people a project as significant as this can provide many years of benefit, not just to the College but to the wider community,” Mr Wood added. Total Cost of the project was $70,000 and the College was successful on obtaining a grant of almost $50,000 to assist complete the project. The completion of this project marks just the first stage of a larger plan to develop water conservation and better water use strategies with two further grant applications in the pipeline for the next round of Australian Government Community Water Grants.
