Instrumental Music Program
The Instrumental Music Program is a value-added co-curricular music program that students from Kindy through to Year 12 can enrol in.
The program is delivered by over a dozen specialist music tutors in a broad range of instrument specialisms. Students may choose to receive tuition in one or more of the following instruments:
- Drums and Percussion
- Double Bass
- Guitar and Bass Guitar
- Singing and vocal coaching
Students who participate in the Instrumental Music Program may choose to undertake additional tuition in Theory of Music. All tuition is delivered in a dedicated one-to-one lesson with a qualified music tutor. Music examinations are encouraged, including AMEB examinations, ABRSM, Trinity College, Rock School and Suzuki Music Education.
Year 4 Music Program
As part of the Year 4 curriculum, students undertake instruction on a chosen musical instrument. Much research has been developed on the positive aspects of children learning an instrument across the curriculum. The students will be encouraged to have fun and to develop a strong technical foundation for their musical studies, whatever their prior musical experience and achievements.
Learning a musical instrument:
• increases memory, reasoning capacity and time management skills
• improves concentration, memory and self-expression
• improves verbal memory
Students choose from the following list. The program concludes with a little concert during their classtime at the end of the semester.
• strings (violin, viola and cello)
