WELCOME TO THE  FRASER COAST
INVITATIONAL RUGBY SEVENS TOURNAMENT 2021

 

U13s

In the U13s competition, the top 4 from the group will progress into the finals.

  • 1st v 2nd play for the Trophy Final.
  • 3rd and 4th play for the Plate Final.
  • # Due to a group of 5 there will be a team which has a bye. This will count as a win (see rules below). This is luck of the draw. The reason for this set up is due to amount of matches/final systems/ and time in the day.

 (Gold, Silver and Bronze)

 

U15s

In the U15s competition, the top 2 from each pool will progress into the Semi Finals.

  • Semi Final 1 – 1st Pool A v 2nd Pool B, Semi Final 2 – 1st Pool B v 2nd Pool A
  • Trophy Final – Winner of Semi 1 v Winner of Semi 2
  • Plate Final – Loser of Semi 1 v Loser of Semi 2
  • 3rd in Pool A will play 3rd in Pool B so all teams receive a minimum of 3 games.

(Gold, Silver and Bronze)

 

Open Girls

In the Open Girls competition each team will play each other once.

  • At the end of the round robin 1st v 2nd for the Trophy Final.
  • 3rd v 4th for the Plate Final.

(Gold, Silver and Bronze).

 

Opens Boys

In the Open Boys competition, the top 2 from each pool will progress into the finals.

  • 1st in Pool A v 1st Pool B play for the Trophy Final.
  • 2nd in Pool A v 2nd Pool B play for the Plate Final.
  • 3rd in Pool A will play 3rd in Pool B so all teams receive a minimum of 3 games.

 (Gold, Silver and Bronze).

 

Tournament Rules

  1. Each team shall name a squad not exceeding twelve (12) players.
  2. The minimum number of players that can be fielded without incurring a forfeit is five (5).
  3. All teams are required to have a team photograph prior to the commencement of their first game to authenticate eligible team players for the duration of the tournament. Teams that do not keep the same team for the duration of the tournament will forfeit all points. 
  4. Unlimited interchange of players is allowed. The player being substituted must be off the field before interchange player can take part. All players substituted may re-enter the game at any time as an interchange.
  5. All games will be 7 minutes per half with 1 minute for half time.
  6. Drop kick conversions from adjacent to where try is scored.
  7. Kick-offs: the team which has just scored kicks off. Drop kick offs only.
  8. Conversions must be taken within 40 seconds of scoring a try.
  9. If a player receives a yellow card, they miss 2 minutes and are not replaced. If a player receives a red card, they are off for the entire game. They miss the next game.
  10. If a player receives a concussion they must not return to the field. This will be up to ref who will notify the tournament convenors.
  11. Referee will keep scores and it is the coach’s responsibility to check with referee at the end of each match to verify the score, after which the scores will be delivered to the official tent.
  12. Teams will be ranked in pool games/round robin games based on 3 points/win, 2 points/draw and 1 points for a loss.
  13. In the U13s the team allocated with the bye (luck of the draw) will automatically be given the win and receive 3 points. Their for and against will be scored 14-0.
  14. If 2 teams are ranked in the same position after pool games/Round Robin games, points for and against count back will apply. If results are still tied, the winner will be determined by whoever won the match between these teams in their pool game played against each other. If points are still tied results will be determined by the toss of a coin by the Tournament Convenor.
  15. If games are tied in the Trophy and Plate Finals, teams will play golden point (first to score) of 3 minutes each way, with no time off for half time. If no result is determined then teams shall share the winners’ Trophy.
  16. If a team forfeits a game their opposition will be allocated a win (3 points) and this result will be scored as a 14 – 0 score for and against. However, if the game is being played and the team has to forfeit as they have less than 5 players, then their score at the time of forfeit will count unless it is less than a 14 – 0 score, in which case they will receive the better of the two scores.
  17. If a game is abandoned due to injury and the game has gone for at least one half (7 minutes) then the team leading at the time of injury will be awarded the win. If the game has not gone for a full half then the result will be a draw and the score recorded will be 7 – 7. For a game to abandoned injury will be determined by referee and first aid officers.
  18. If a game cannot start due to injury, then it will be rescheduled (if possible) to an adjacent field. If this is not possible then the result will be a draw and the score recorded will be 14 – 14.
  19. Each team Games will start simultaneously when siren sounds. Play will cease when the siren sounds for half time and full time (end of the final play). 
  20. may be required to supply 1 linesperson on the field they have played on directly after the game they have played.
