Child Safety

The Child Safe Anglican Education Policy directs Anglican schools, and education and care services (ECS) on actions required to uphold children’s safety. This includes:
  • promoting children’s safety, wellbeing, and best interests
  • effectively preventing, detecting, and responding to reasonable suspicions of harm
  • application of the Child Safe Standards and the Universal Principle within each relevant Child Safe Entity

Child Safe Advocates

Child Safe Advocates are trained staff who have a vital role in helping our College and Education and Child Service (ECS) to provide child safe responses. They are a:
• trusted adult and support for children when they are concerned for their own or another child’s safety, wellbeing or are reporting conduct that the child considers as inappropriate conduct, abuse or neglect by any person associated with the College.
• contact person and support for families, workers, visitors and community members concerned for a child’s safety or wellbeing or conduct of any person associated with the College or ECS that may be considered as inappropriate conduct, abuse or neglect.

Workers (staff, volunteers, contractors and any person otherwise working for, with or in the College or ECS) must share concerns with an Appropriate Person without unnecessary delay (immediately).

An Appropriate Person includes:
• Principal
• Nominated Supervisor
• Child Safe Advocate or
• an approved delegate as disclosed in Child Safe Anglican Education Procedures.

If concerns relate to immediate danger to a person, follow emergency/critical incident management processes, including contact with emergency services by telephoning ‘000’.

Fraser Coast Anglican College has adopted the Child Safe Anglican Education Policy and the associated procedures; Child Safe Responses and Child Safe Operations as published by the Anglican Schools Commission.

Our commitment is sought to be consistently reflected through the decisions and behaviour of all persons within the School or Service, who are guided by effective governance, policies, tools and processes. In support of this commitment, Fraser Coast Anglican College is dedicated to effectively address the safety and well-being of students when in its care and in our community.
